He was born Jan. 1, 1933, and was raised in Vine Grove. He retired from the military, having served three tours in Vietnam.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Myrtle (Vititoe) Stith; and a sister, Thelma (Stith) Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Stith; two children; three stepchildren; 12 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister, Margaret (Stith) Cox of Elizabethtown; and one brother, James Walter Stith of Panama City, Fla.
A memorial service was held at First Presbyterian Church in Hastings. Cremation was chosen.
